WhatProject Needs and BeneficiariesIn the U.S., childhood immunizations are routine and taken for granted. In Cambodia, rural children often die from preventable infection and disease. Cambodia's child mortality rate is among the world's highest. The Sharing Foundation (TSF) seeks funding to immunize 570 children in the rural village of Roteang, outside Phnom Penh. Government and NGO health programs rarely reach this village of 3,304 Cambodians. This project will protect village children from life-threatening illnesses. ActivitiesChildren will receive 3 Hep B shots and 3 DPT (under age 6) or TT (ages 6 - 18) shots. TSF staff and medical student volunteers will administer vaccines at three intervals, eight weeks apart, followed by needed booster shots six months later.
