Food Delivery to West Bank Children

By Ibrahim Husseini - West Bank Business Development Specialist, August 16, 2006 01:23 PM

PROGRESS REPORT June 20, 2006

In late May, the third and last delivery of basic food items from the World Food Program was made--14.5 tons. As a result of that delivery, 1,250 children attending 31 kindergartens in 12 West Bank villages around Nablus received breads--2kg of bread for each child (market value 8 NIS).

With the beginning of summer camp in July, 1,500 children will receive additional quantities of breads, based on expected remainders. Again, the plan is to distribute 2 kg of bread per child.

In the beleaguered West Bank with Palestinians besieged politically and economically, Near East Foundation provides a lifeline of assistance and hope in a "cluster" of 14 villages north of Nablus. NEF is meeting basic needs as well as seeking longer-term solutions with a wide range of environmental, economic, health, education and nutrition activities underway. Read more about the most recent developments to our highly successful "Cup of Milk" project and other related progams in the West Bank.
